About Us

New 2022 TBoI Board of Directors

Our new board members will begin their term on December 1 as per our by-laws.

The Beekeepers of Indiana (TBoI) with an educational focus and with members statewide, it is "The Official Organization for all Indiana Beekeepers". We are now over 1,900 members and our year round programs help to keep its members up-to-date on all matters about beekeeping. Its key programs include:
  • A February Indiana Bee School held on the last Saturday in February. Check out the "Indiana Bee School" under the Contact Us tab for information on the next school scheduled.
  • April and May Spring Field Clinics held throughout the state.

  • Purdue Field Day held in June at Purdue apiaries.  This is a hands on day that is held on the last day of Purdue's Queen Rearing short course.  We will not hold a Purdue Field Day in 2022.  Queen rearing and apiary classes will be held at HAS in Evansville, Indiana.
  • Participation in Indiana State Fair providing the public with Honey Ice Cream, various honeys from all over the state, an observation hive and answers to the public's questions.
  • A Fall Conference at an Indiana location.  In 2022, it will be held at the Terre Haute Convention Center in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 28 & 29, 2022.

  • Creating, supporting and strengthening of local beekeeping groups.

Position Statement of The Beekeepers of Indiana

The Beekeepers of Indiana (TBoI) encourages the development of permissive Urban Beekeeping ordinances within cities and towns in Indiana.

  • In order to promote responsible small scale beekeeping within urban/suburban communities, and
  • In recognition of the national trend to allow urban beekeeping in major cities and towns throughout the US, and
  • In recognition of the current plight of pollinators in general, and
  • In recognition of the vital role that honeybees play, not only in our national and world food supply, but also in our urban and local gardens, orchards and floral culture, and
  • In recognition that many citizens enjoy the pleasures and experiences of small scale beekeeping, and
  • In recognition that local beekeepers are often a willing and available resource to help remedy honeybee problems within their communities, and
  • In recognition that TBOI stands as a 1,700 member organization, with many local chapters, that provides educational support to beekeepers and communities throughout Indiana,

We hereby encourage the development of local ordinances which permit the practice of responsible urban beekeeping.
