I received a five frame nuc colony from Mike Seib on June 12. On that same day, I took it to my mentor Sammy Mohler, and installed my bees. Sammy said it looked good, and we saw the queen as well as pollen, honey, eggs, larvae and capped brood. So we put the inner cover on, and put the feeder in the hive body, and then the outer cover.
Inspection No. 1. The colony is looking good, so we put on another hive body on top of the other hive body. We also quit feeding them and put on a medium honey super.
Inspection No.2. It’s looking good, so we put another honey super on after we looked for eggs and larvae. It had a good amount of both.
Inspection No. 3. The hive is still growing, so we put another honey super on the hive and maybe I will get some honey from it this year. The queen is still laying well.
